WILMOT RACEWAY
WILMOT, WI
5-24-09
Racing two days in row is nothing new to me. I have been doing it for years in my go kart.
In fact, I usually race multiple times in the same day in my kart and I have even raced
in different states in the same day during my go kart career. My point is, I knew I
would be ready to go full speed ahead again tonight.

Heat race:
This time around I started close to the front. I was able to use my good starting position
to my advantage and pulled out to lead the pack.
As the race went on, my lead kept getting bigger and bigger. I felt like I was well on my
way to my second win of 09. Unfortunately, a late caution bunched the field up, erasing
the big lead I had.
After the restart my car slipped up the track and the second place car was able to get
past me. I fought hard to get the spot back, but ran out of time. Oh well, I was fast and
came close to getting another victory.

Feature race:
The track tonight was not dry, so my crew set up my car differently than we would for a
slick track. Big mistake! The track was not dry, but it was glazed over with rubber and
very, very slick.
Once again I found myself in the position of holding on for my life! My car was all over the
place and just about undriveable.
I finished the race in 6th place. Needless to say, we need to do a better job as a team
reading the track and setting up the car. We have proven in all three races this year that
the car and I are both fast enough. Now we need to put it all together for the feature
race.
There were some positive things to take away from this race. This was the second night
in a row I was the highest finishing driver out of the four cars on my team. Also, I was told
by some of the other drivers what a great job I did not crashing as bad as my car was.
In racing, respect from your fellow drivers is always a plus.
